Korea’s Jeju Shinhwa World celebrated its Grand Opening on Thursday, described as “the first and only iconic world-class integrated leisure and entertainment resort in Jeju Island, Korea.”
The ceremony, hosted by the Chairman of Jeju Shinhwa World owner and operator Landing International, Dr Yang Zhihui, was attended by a number of key government officials as well as foreign business partners, guests and media.
“This is a memorable milestone in the development of Jeju Shinhwa World,” Dr Yang said, adding that he wanted to develop a property that local residents would be proud of. “It represents the successful development of a world-class leisure and entertainment integrated resort on Jeju Island.”
Spanning a total area of 2.5 million square meters, Jeju Shinhwa World comprises luxury hotels, theme parks, MICE facilities and gaming following the launch of the relocated Jeju Shinhwa World Landing Casino on 25 February.
“The resort provides one-stop services that cover tours for leisure or business to tours for couples and families, thus complementing the existing offerings from Jeju Island’s tourism industry,” Landing International said in a statement.
Jeju Shinhwa World is expected to be fully complete by 2020, having already opened a number of its current facilities in phases over the past 12 months. They include fully-serviced resort condominium Somerset Jeju Shinhwa World in April 2017, Shinhwa Theme Park in September, Jeju Shinhwa World Landing Resort – comprising a hotel, Landing Convention Centre and food and beverage entertainment complex YG Republique – in November and Jeju Shinhwa World Marriott Resort and Shinhwa Shoppes in December.
The casino was moved from its former home at Hyatt Regency Jeju Hotel in February.
Landing International will open Shinhwa Waterpark and Jeju Shinhwa World Shinhwa Resort later this year while luxury hotel Jeju Shinhwa World Four Seasons Resort & Spa and branded outdoor theme park Lionsgate Movie World will launch in 2020.
