Dr Stanley Ho, a founder of Macau casino operator SJM Holdings, has donated MOP3 million (US$375,000) to Hou Kong Middle School in Macau. The money is for an extension at the school’s affiliate, Hou Kong Premier School. The latter establishment, based in Taipa, is an international school with its curriculum in English and Chinese
At a ceremony on Tuesday, Dr Ho’s donation was presented to Iao Tun Ieong, Principal of Hou Kong Middle School, by Dr Ambrose So, Chief Executive Officer of SJM Holdings Ltd.
Dr Ho is Permanent Honorary President of Hou Kong Middle School. He has made a number of bequests to educational causes in Macau and Hong Kong in the five decades he spent at the helm of STDM, the casino development and investment company he helped to found and its unit SJM.
“Dr Ho is supportive of the Hou Kong Middle School’s patriotic guiding principle in nurturing future talent for society. Dr Ho always reminds young people of the importance of learning and urges them to make use of the knowledge acquired to contribute back to society,” said STDM in a statement released to the media.
