Two men who allegedly cheated a casino out of more than MOP 40,000 have been charged with fraud. The preliminary investigation concluded that, on February 19, a Hong Kong resident surnamed Lai gambled on the table where his accomplice, a casino dealer surnamed Che, was working.
The two suspects had earlier agreed to pretend that Lai was winning, in order to pocket the money. When the police detected the scam, they admitted to having used the same technique twice to cheat the casino out of MOP 40,000-plus.
In another case, a local unemployed men, 31, surnamed Kuong, is awaiting trial at the Macau Prison for allegedly stealing the handbag of a woman on February 19, right after the victim had withdrawn money from an ATM.
