Galaxy Entertainment Group’s flagship StarWorld Hotel and Casino won ‘Best Casino Interior Design’ at the International Gaming Awards (IGA) in London.
StarWorld was the winner from a strong shortlist featuring: Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s The Palazzo in Las Vegas; Societe des Bains de Mer’s Casino de Monte-Carlo in France; Storm International’s Shangri-La in Moscow; Isle of Capri’s The Isle at Coventry in the UK and the Shaw family’s Opera House Casino Scarborough, also in the UK.
Francis Lui, deputy chairman, Galaxy Entertainment Group, said in response to StarWorld’s award: “This is a great motivation for StarWorld to continuously thrive for excellence.
“Since opening in 2006, we have been extremely pleased to have received a number of international awards from fellow industry players in both gaming and hospitality.”
StarWorld, a 39-storey property built on reclaimed land on Macau peninsula, features 140,000 square feet of mass market gaming, five floors of VIP gaming halls, 507 hotel rooms and suites, and numerous restaurants and entertainment outlets.
StarWorld’s previous awards are: 5 Star Diamond Award, American Academy of Hospitality Sciences; China’s Top Hotels, Travel + Leisure Magazine; Top 100 Hotels of China, China Hotel Industry Summit; Top 10 Business Hotels, China Hotel Industry Summit; Starlight Awards, Asia Hotel Forum (all in 2008) and a Higher Flyer Award, Hong Kong Business Magazine, 2007.
