A document read aloud in a Macau court has mentioned the construction projects for the Crown Macau casino and the City of Dreams resort by name, in relation to fresh corruption allegations against Ao Man-long.
Mr Ao, a former secretary of transport and public works in Macau, was sentenced to 27 years in jail last year after being found guilty of 57 counts of bribe-taking, money laundering, abuse of power and other charges related to infrastructure projects.
Mr Ao now faces 28 new allegations of graft. The fresh trial started last week.
Neither Melco Crown Entertainment Ltd (MPEL), nor Melco Crown Gaming, the operating company of Crown Macau (which opened in May 2007) and of City of Dreams (due to open later this year) were mentioned in the papers read in open court by the presiding judge, Mr Justice Sam. Neither MPEL nor its joint venture parent companies Melco International Development and Crown Ltd of Australia have so far commented on the case.
