Ao Man-long, Macau’s former secretary for transport and public works, could face further prison time after Macau prosecutors uncovered more cases of suspected bribery.
He was originally jailed for 27 years in January 2008 by a Macau court on 57 counts of bribe-taking, money laundering, abuse of power and other charges related to infrastructure projects
A fresh trial to hear the new allegations has begun at Macau’s Court of Final Appeal.
A Hong Kong court recently sanctioned recovery of any Hong Kong-based assets of Ao. Macau says it will also start proceedings to recover a HKD78 million property in the United Kingdom.
