Macau’s veteran gaming entrepreneur Stanley Ho may finally have found a way of reaching the pockets of Australian gamblers without incurring any objections from the country’s gaming regulators.
Dr Ho has been turned down in the past for a casino operating licence in Australia. Now though he has reportedly expressed ‘interest’ in backing the proposed Palm Meadows racetrack on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Following a meeting in Hong Kong on Monday, Queensland Racing’s racing manager, Malcolm Tuttle, said Dr Ho gave him and QR’s chairman Bob Bentley a one-hour hearing on a proposed financial model. They will make a full report to the QR board on 6th February.
