Macau more dependent than ever on VIP gaming in 2011
VIP gaming became even more dominant in the Macau gaming industry last year, despite some industry operators increasing their marketing effort in the higher-margin premium mass- and main mass-market segments.
Wednesday, 18 January 2012In 2011 local casinos drew MOP 196.1 billion (US$24.5 billion) in gross gaming revenues (i.e. after tax and after variations in house win rate are accounted for) from high-roller baccarat, up by 44.6% from the previous year. The VIP-mass split on GGR was in data released by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) today. In 2011 VIP gross revenue accounted for 73.2% of Macau's total GGR; up 1.2 percentage points from 2010.
