inside asian gaming May 2014 84 K onami Gaming is heading to G2E Asia 2014 with an array of new regionally focused games and a revamped Asia sales and support team. Chief among the latter improvements is Jeffrey Chen, the company’s new international product manager, who will be working closely with John Gomes, general manager for Asia. He joins Eduardo Aching, the new vice president of sales, International, and new Director of R&D, International Mitsuhiro Miyazaki. “During the past year, Konami has implemented functionalities to comply with local requirements relating to games, operating systems and progressives,” Mr Gomes says. “Having evaluated the market requirements through R&D visits and customer feedback we are now in a solid position to participate and excel in these markets.” An expansion of the company’s Las Vegas headquarters will strengthen that position. “We are essentially doubling the size of our facilities in order to create the space for additional R&D and customer service personnel, as well as enhanced manufacturing capabilities designed to support our growing business,” says Mr Gomes. Significantly, the company continues to improve on its powerful KP3 platform and will exhibit several new games on the all- new Rapid Revolver cabinet together with its flexible SeleXion multigame cabinet and the eye-catching Podium Monument with its 32-inch vertical screen in an oversized top box. “Unlike any other machine, Rapid Revolver combines a video reel experience with an oversized top box featuring six vertically mounted spinning reels,” Mr Gomes explains. “This dynamic mix of video game content matched with unique cyclonic top-box reels allows casino operators to provide their players with an unmatched gaming experience.” Rising Dragon, the first game released on Rapid Revolver, features an array of bonus games and jackpots, including a two- level progressive, and it’s equipped with engaging 3D graphics and high volatility for the intensive gambling experience many players, particularly those in Macau, prefer. Other new Asian-themed titles include Dragon’s Victory, More Gold More Silver, Great Luck Great Profit and a new progressive, Brothers of Fortune. The SeleXion multigame box will be another highlight, a cabinet that affords operators and players a new level of flexibility via the capability to instantly switch between games. Operators also like the fact that they can customize game packages, denominations and language. The Podium Goliath Cabinet, standing 93 inches high, will also be grabbing attention on the show floor. Designed to house Konami’s K2V and KP3 library of stand-alone progressives, it features dual 32-inch high-definition LCD displays, 360-degree attract lighting and an enhanced sound system. The feature-rich Synkros management and bonusing systemalso will be on display. Synkros has been hailed for its wealth of marketing tools—like SuperSeries, which offers configurable, automated, multi- level and multi-themed bonuses—and advanced real-time analytics.
