It qualifies for the lists as a casino resort developer. Its parent, Berjaya Corporation Berhad , which takes second spot in the year-to-date AGI Top Ten with stock growth of 175.6%,also owns interests including lottery management and gaming investments. Drivers of the Group’s and Berjaya Land’s stock price include appreciation on the value of its land bank and news confirmed early in May that Berjaya Land is to be master developer of a resort-style residential and commercial complex including a 500-room casino hotel in the city of Jeju in South Korea. The Group’s chairman and chief executive Vincent Tan recently joined Forbes.com’s Malaysia’s 40 Richest list with a net worth of US$1.3 billion. The Global Gaming Index for the month is definitely a list of two halves, with the top ten performers putting on a minimum of 44.31% in the case of Hong Kong-listed CY Foundation, the only provider of play-for-prize online tournaments in the Chinese market. That performance also guarantees CY Foundation number two spot in the Asian Gaming Index to 23rd May. Earlier this year, CY Foundation announced a software licensing agreement with Las Vegas From Home.com Entertainment , a software developer of popular Asian multi-player games listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. CY Foundation would have been the best performer in the Asian Gaming Index for May had it not been for an aberration in the share price of the Australia-listed online gaming company Global Approach , which put on a hefty 102.3%.
